Chozo Miscellaneous Research

Wall Hanging: Furnished by the Chozo of Tallon IV, these decorative pieces of polished metal serve no real purpose aside from ornamentation, but they are still quite handy if one needs a good look at one’s reflection.

Celestial Clock: This unique device is found only among the Chozo Ruins of Tallon IV and seems to represent a specific but unknown solar system in a simplified pictorial form. The significance of this planetary time-keeping device (which tells time by the movement of various pegs around the raised portion of the disk) is still unknown, but it has been rumored that the object may depict the solar system the Chozo originally came from. If this ever proves to be true, it demonstrates that they came from a solar system with a moderately-hot, yellow star, at least three planets (the second of which from the star seems to have one moon that moves in an erratic pattern while the farthest has three moons) as well as an asteroid belt and a potential fourth planet just beyond that.

Holobanner: These devices display a three-dimensional image of either Chozo glyphs or of a creature and are designed for the Chozo to be able to read the digital message encoded in the images though their psionic powers, but an individual with the Scan Visor technology and a Chozo-adapted Translator Module can read the information just the same.

Radiation Collector: These large, blue and white objects are used in the Hall of Elders in the Chozo Ruins of Tallon IV to absorb and store solar energy for later use and are largely decorative, though they nonetheless stand out in comparison to the otherwise low-tech structure of the Chozo Ruins.

Elysian Satellite: These devices were primary used by the Chozo Searcher of Elysia to explore the cosmos and secure data on the various worlds that otherwise existed beyond the ready reach of the Chozo. These devices are controlled and launched through a series of Bomb Slots located around the walls of the Chozo Observatory (though now most of them have been rendered inactive due to a lack of maintenance for some time and damage from the Phazon Space Pirates) and are equipped with some of the most advanced exploratory hardware and software in the galaxy, being able to not only detect planets from far away but also lock onto rare relics and upgrades on their surface and interior at the same time, providing full map data on said areas and indicating the locations of all types of upgrades that might exist. This makes them invaluable for explorers of all kinds, as they can provide a helpful hint towards the locations of items that may have been missed on one’s first romp through an area, encouraging revisits in order to gather as much loot from a given planet as physically possible.

Theronian Bomb: This weapon is a thermonuclear warhead of Chozo design that is capable of destroying just about any type of armor or energy shield and is so powerful that the bomb itself is not allowed to exist on the station in a fully-assembled state. As such, the only way to make one of these devices is by combining parts that can be found in different locations on SkyTown, and even then a Gunship equipped with a device like the Ship Grapple Beam is needed to lift the massive components. The main detonator and core of the bomb is placed under lock in the Turbine Chamber and can only be accessed by activating all of the Spinner consoles around the device and undoing a Combination Lock to open up the device’s holding structure and ready it for transport. The second component, a fuel cell that acts as a storage container for the volatile fuel needed to give the bomb its explosive power, is found in Concourse and requires that all of the energy conduits holding it in place be destroyed simultaneously in groups of four on three sides in order to make it possible to lift it out. The final component, a second fuel cell, is located in the Transit Hub and requires a full five-Missile spread from the Seeker Missile Launcher on all five lock points holding the object in place to deactivate the lock and make it possible to lift the fuel cell out of confinement. Collecting these components became the task set for Samus Aran during her journey on Elysia, and with the help of Aurora Unit 217, she was able to assemble the bomb, place it in the Spire Dock’s main pod and release it over the Leviathan Shield constructed by the Space Pirates to keep the Leviathan unharmed, completely destroying the shield in the process.

Emergency Evacuation Pod: This Elysian-designed escape pod is built directly into the Spire Dock’s main pod as an emergency escape system in the case of the Spire Dock’s main pod being needed to deliver a payload of some sort as a desperate form of attack. Originally designed by the Chozo as a safety measure against attack, in the event that the Spire Dock is used as a weapon container, this pod is to be utilized to escape from the structure after deactivating its thrusters as there is no other way to get off the Spire Dock’s main pod once it has detached from the rest of SkyTown. Samus Aran had to use one of these vessels in order to get off of the structure after flying it close to the Leviathan with a Theronian Bomb payload, but she just barely made it off as the device was so old and broken down that she was forced to enter the inner working of the pod’s container in order to repair damage that had been done to the pod’s Circuit Boards by Steamspiders.
