Crawdaunt (the Rogue Pokémon) is a relatively rare Water/Dark-type Pokémon found among bodies of freshwater within the Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar and Kitakami regions. Brutish in nature and extremely tough to tame, Crawdaunt are vicious crustaceans that care very little about the safety of others and care even less about how much damage they cause to their local ecology. They certainly might not look like a threat to most, but when these beasts are on the battlefield, there's no telling how much damage they can possibly do; just do your best to stay out of the way of their Crabhammer attack, or you might end up getting thrown out of the battle before you can even attack!

When Corphish evolve, their personality shifts radically and they became extremely cruel and brutish toward other life forms; it is believed that this is due to a chemical imbalance that results in these creatures producing far more adrenaline then they need too. Regardless, this makes Crawdaunt extremely vicious and easily angered; so much, in fact, that they absolutely cannot stand being near other life forms and will forcefully throw out other creatures that are not members of their own family with their imposing pincers. This ruckus makes Crawdaunt among the most least-liked of neighbors and essentially forces any Pokémon that may have been living in the pond or stream they now occupy to leave the area, leaving it a quiet, deserted wasteland. This suits Crawdaunt just fine, as they only care for the company of their own species or Corphish and even then they can barely stand to be around them, but the effects on local wildlife are often drastic and sometimes irreversible. Many attempts have been made to eradicate the species in Japan but, just like Corphish, Crawdaunt are extremely hardy and are able to survive in freshwater bodies of nearly any temperature and any toxin level without experiencing any ill effects. Moreover, destroying the Corphish populations has proven to be even more futile and pointless, as few Corphish ever manage to make it to adulthood in the wild anyways before being imported overseas for food. For now, it seems that these creatures will remain a thorn in the side of the Japanese without any exception.

While Corphish usually don't have to shed their exoskeleton very often, Crawdaunt often do so on semi-annual basis and are extremely vulnerable afterwards because their new exoskeleton is quite soft; until it can harden, Crawdaunt will usually remain hidden within their burrows at the bottom of the pond or stream they occupy. The same result happens if their pincers are broken off, as they will act cowardly and timid towards all that approach them until their pincers grow back. This is in stark contrast to their usual behavior, as the inordinate amount of adrenaline running through their bodies grants them a vicious and tough temperament and compels these creatures to attack and fight any and all challengers with extreme vigor. Aside from simply beating prey and opponents to death by flailing their thick pincers, which aren’t that sturdy and have a habit of falling off regularly (which is not necessarily a great thing for others as their meat is foul-smelling and has a nasty taste), Crawdaunt do very little with their lives outside of mating season. During this tender time, Crawdaunt will actively fight with one another (if there is more than more than one male present) to lay claim to any females present, and even then, they will only be allowed to mate if a female gauges them to be worthwhile; this is usually dependent upon the size of the star-shaped crest on their heads (which interestingly grants them the ability to utilize the Swift attack immediately after evolving). Sadly, Crawdaunt eggs are fairly frail and difficult to protect against damage and few manage to live to fruition; considering that the survivors can effectively live through just about anything that life throws at them, this is probably for the best as it tactfully prevents issues with overpopulation.

Though they might not appear to be much of a threat in battle, Crawdaunt are violent creatures that take great pleasure in beating and ripping others apart simply for the fun of it. With powerful attacks like Crabhammer, Crunch and Guillotine on their side and surprisingly high physical strength to back up their actions, it can certainly be said that these crustaceans can put up one heck of a fight against most opponents. Just make sure not to bring one home to your neighborhood if there's a public pool nearby, as not even a bit of chlorine is going to stop these beasts from throwing out ever little kid they see just to lay claim to a five-foot deep plot of water!

Do Crawdaunts eat Basculins?

Because I hear that even the most violent Basculins will flee at the sight of a Crawdaunt.
