Galactic Federation Portable Weapons


G.F. Marine Assault Rifle: This is the standard weapon for the Galactic Federation Fleet and has proven to be such a reliable weapon in battle that it has not had its basic design changed much in the past few decades. This rapid-fire assault weapon feeds off of energy-based ammunition cells that are inserted into the rear chamber of the weapon and are drained as the weapon’s trigger is pulled, sending bursts of energy at a target that do little damage on their own but are capable of mowing through lesser enemies in a heartbeat. These ammunition cells can be recharged repeatedly with little after-effect on the weapon, but repeated energy drains over short periods of time can put stress on the recharge system and decrease its performance to the point of being nearly non-functional, thus requiring fresh ammunition cells in order for the attached weapon to reach peak performance once again. The weapons do not have to be mounted on an Arm Cannon and can thus function when held as a normal firearm with minimal recoil, but at the same time they also do not have any iron sights for manual aim; instead, the weapons are programmed to link up with the holder’s Power Suit and relies on a heads-up display in the Marine Trooper’s armor in order to accurately target enemy forces. Moreover, a foregrip below the weapon’s barrel enables it to be easily stabilized for full-auto or long-ranged fire and can additionally act as a brace for using the weapon in close combat, as it further possesses a fold-out bayonet under the main frame.

G.F. Plasma Machine Gun: This Federation Army weapon is based directly off of Earth models and serves the same basic functions in combat, being designed to fire small rounds at a rapid pace in order to overwhelm targets with a literal hail of bullets. Each individual bullet is incapable of dealing much in the way of damage and is unable to penetrate even mild armor, but this is made up for with a high ammo capacity and rate of fire. This is a standard weapon assigned to all members of the Galactic Federation Army and thus a common weapon to see on the battlefield in just about any situation.

G.F. Assault Rifle: This weapon operates similarly to the G.F. Plasma Machine Gun in that it is designed to fire bullets at a rapid pace, but it trades in some of the firing rate of the former as well as some of its ammo capacity in exchange for greater firepower in battle. It is a bit more uncommon to see than its counterpart and is unique in that the ammunition for the weapon is loaded into the side of the device rather than in the handle or back, but this is of little consequence as it is capable of taking down most creatures with great efficiency even though it still lacks the penetrating power needed to punch through thick armor. It is lastly noted that this weapon can also be retrofitted to fire grenade launcher rounds, but this alteration is generally reserved for commanding officers only as a result of its cost and its comparatively greater destructive potential.

Battle Rifle: This weapon is effectively identical to the Assault Rifle and is only differentiated by the fact that it loads ammunition from the bottom of the weapon rather than the side and is armed with a scope for better aiming.

Freeze Gun: This blaster weapon is used as a shock-troop firearm to freeze and often times destroy other living creatures in an instant in close quarters. This weapon uses a cartridge injected into the firearm through a slot in the front of the gun that allows the user to fire an extremely potent freezing agent that can instantly freeze and kill most creatures that it hits, generally by freezing their skin and then penetrating through the brittle skin to reach the inner layers of muscle and organ tissue. This attack is often lethal to humans and is thus only reserved for dangerous monsters, but its reliability is nonetheless high enough to make it a weapon seen among most Galactic Federation Army soldiers even if they can only be used in battle under the orders of a commanding officer.

Plasma Gun: This device is the result of the Galactic Federation trying to reverse-engineer the Chozo Plasma Beam and not quite getting everything right. The Plasma Gun uses a special-issue concentrated ammunition cell that can fire massive bursts of charged plasma from the long barrel of the weapon, with the charging chamber of the weapon taking up the bulk of its mass aside from the actual barrel. The weapon is heavily reinforced to minimize recoil from the attack and has the same power as a fully-charged Chozo Plasma Beam shot, but it is hindered in that the energy drive used to create the blast is quite primitive and nowhere near up to standard when compared to the Chozo Plasma Beam. As a result, the device take a while to charge up, but it is at least helped by the addition of a scope for better aiming. This weapon has considerable destructive potential when used correctly, so it is generally only gifted to members of the Galactic Federation Army that have proven themselves to be able to safely and reliably use the weapon on the battlefield, even if the weapon itself is less reliable than the human operating it.
