Garbodor (the Trash Heap Pokémon) is a relatively rare Poison-type Pokémon found among grassy fields near major cities within the Unova, Kalos, Alola and Galar regions as well as the Hoenn region on rare occasions. Despised for their grotesque appearance and disgusting habits, Garbodor are a far cry from Trubbish in terms of both friendliness and safety; you definitely do not want to cuddle up close to these large beasts. Unless you can handle terrible smells, an endless appetite for garbage and the frequent chance of getting poisoned from sheer bodily contact, Garbodor are definitely not the kind of Pokémon you want to invest any training in!

As a result of their abnormal origins and sheer existence, Trubbish and Garbodor are recognized as two of the strangest species of Poison-type Pokémon known and, along with Grimer and Muk, are believed to be the product of a common amoeba mutating extensively into colonial groups that possess sentience and thrive off of toxins; in the case of Trubbish and Garbodor, initial formation most likely occurred within landfills. Decades ago, the Unova region was on the edge of having a garbage crisis, as the massive population of people living in the small region produced ridiculous volumes of garbage every single day. At the height of the crisis, everything from paper plates to metal barrels to even toxic waste was being dumped into landfills. Somewhere along the way, the combination of internal pressure generated from increasing mass and unstable chemicals resulted in the mutation of amoebas living in the hearts of these trash heaps into toxin-loving abominations with the capacity of sentience in large numbers; using garbage bags as a sort of skin, these strange life forms, what we now call Trubbish (and eventually Garbodor), first appeared from the surface of these massive landfills over two decades ago. Since their appearance, enormous efforts have been made to clean up the Unova region in order to prevent such an 'accident' from occurring again, and the result has been quite spectacular. Unfortunately, alongside this clean-up act, policies of exterminating Trubbish and Garbodor have also been quite common; these creatures most likely would have been completely wiped out if a law protecting them as endangered species had not been passed a little over a decade ago. Since then, however, population numbers for these creatures have faced a positive upswing and their populations are currently holding steady. The Alola region was originally in a similar situation due to the accidental importing of the creatures some time ago, but the initial explosion of their population numbers was quickly nullified and is today kept in check by predation from Alola Grimer and Muk (though it has rendered Garbodor in the region a bit stronger and hardier than elsewhere as only the strongest of their kind can put up a fight against Alolan Grimer and Muk).

Unlike Trubbish, Garbodor are actually worth fearing and loathing, at least to some degree. While they are still relatively friendly, it is dangerous to be in close proximity to these creatures because their internal frames have outgrown their garbage bag 'skin', revealing their toxic insides to the outside air. Besides increasing the already foul odor coming from their body and making them relatively toxic to touch, this unique bodily construct allows Garbodor to possibly possess the Weak Armor Ability (which only they can normally possess), which lowers their Defense stat but raises their Speed stat when they are hit by a physical attack. The only true bodily trait that Garbodor share with Trubbish is their need to devour garbage in order to grow larger and maintain their size, a trait only made more dangerous by their insatiable hunger. This can prove to be both a bonus and a detriment in battle on both sides, as these beasts naturally generate new, exotic toxins in their bodies as they continue to absorb and mix garbage together without any real preference. In addition, Garbodor are much more aggressive towards their opponents in battle and will gladly use their toxic, semi-metallic bodies to deliver powerful Metal Claw (which is only accessible to them through artificial means after evolution), Body Slam and Gunk Shot attacks no matter how weak their opposition may be. If Garbodor can get a hold of their opponents with their left hands, they will always choose to finish them off by belching extremely poisonous gas right in their faces, either knocking them out instantly or at least making them incredibly ill; there have been several cases, however, where this gas has actually killed weaker creatures. If Garbodor cannot get close to their opposition or need to immobilize their target when in their grasp, they will use their somewhat deformed right hands to spray and douse their target with poisonous liquid up to a range of as much as 35 feet; the poison in this liquid quickly leaches through bare skin and thin armor, inducing enough of a toxic shock within moments of exposure that it can kill weakened creatures instantly. In essence, this means that Pokémon with strong armor are the only creatures capable of going up against Garbodor in battle without having to fear possible death.

Lastly, it is noted that Garbodor is one of only 32 species of Pokémon capable of undergoing the process of Gigantamaxing, with specific members of this species taking on a unique form when they are Dynamaxed in battle. In this state, these creatures grow immensely in size and their forms become more stuffed in appearance, with what looks to be massive toys and other pieces of rubbish attached to its body, though in reality these objects are condensed clumps of toxic gas disguised as bits of rubbish. In this form, as noted, the toxic gas that seeps from their bodies becomes much thicker and congeals into the shape of discarded toys; this gas is often sprayed from their mouths and hands as a weapon, and if it engulfs a target, the toxics inside of it can seep all the way into their bones. While this might only be a temporary state for them, the immense power that flows through them while in this state allows Garbodor to utilize a unique G-Max move known as G-Max Malodor, which takes the standard Max Ooze attack and combines the toxic liquid used in the move with poisonous garbage from their own body that Poisons anything it touches, allowing these monsters as a whole to use their Dynamax power to the fullest to Poison the opposition and keep them hurting over the course of a battle.

Far more menacing and dangerous than Trubbish, Garbodor are powerful Poison-types that are tough to take down if you don't have any good special attacks at your disposal. With a decently balanced arrangement of base stats and the ability to finish off all but strongly-armored opponents easily, this is one species of Pokémon that will make all but Steel-type specialists afraid and concerned. Of course, if you like using scare tactics, then this is definitely the kind of beast for you; just make sure to take it off the field once any heavily-armored opposition appears, or this disfigured critter will literally be taken out with the trash!
