Entity Name: Gorea
General Location: Alimbic Cluster (Oubliette)
Entity Status: Terminated

Gorea is the monster responsible for the destruction of the Alimbics and in turn everything that they held dear in their lives. The exact origins of Gorea are a complete mystery, but according to Alimbic lore, the monster crash-landed on Alinos many millennia ago encased in a comet likely originating from a place far, far outside of the Tetra Galaxy. When the Alimbics went to investigate the comet’s remains, Gorea appeared in the form of a shapeless gas before transforming into a monstrous visage of the Alimbic themselves; it took on their general form but grew to a much larger size and adapted their form into a grotesque visage with three legs, an armored chest with no visible organs, a pair of massive arms attached to the main body by circular energy couplers and a radical head that looked like a twisted variant on the true face of the Alimbics. As the monster screamed its name out loud, it took to attacking the Alimbics in an attempt to completely wipe them out; while it might not have had any physical attacks to speak of, Gorea did not need any, as it had the power to sprout red, tentacle-like appendages with which it could attack and drain the life energy from creatures, either killing them or reducing them to a coma-like state in the process. Though the Alimbics did their best to try and defeat the creature with their advanced weaponry, it only backfired on them in the ensuing war, as Gorea not only resisted their attacks but actually managed to copy them, turning them against their creators with disastrous consequences.

By the end of this war, the Alimbics had run out of options, and defeating Gorea was considered an impossible task. Fearing for the lives of all creatures outside of their lands, the Alimbics came to the decision that if Gorea could not be defeated, then the next best thing they could do was seal it away, and this was accomplished through the power of an item they called the Seal Sphere. The Alimbics lured Gorea into a trap and forced the Seal Sphere upon him; with it, they were able to seal Gorea’s psychic powers into the sphere and ensure that he could no longer return to a gaseous state or ever leave the confines of the device. To further ensure that Gorea would be trapped forever with this device in it, the Alimbics encouraged their remaining free citizens to convert themselves into pure telepathic energy through the process of essence transference, and it was their psychic powers that created the engine of the Seal Sphere and gave it the power to contain the monster. Even this, however, was not enough; to make sure that Gorea would never be able to escape, the Alimbics sealed Gorea away in a prison they called the Oubliette and placed him in a realm called the Infinity Void, a dimension that lay outside of the accessible world in order to make sure that Gorea could never escape on its own or be found and awakened by sheer accident. This was accomplished through a device called the Alimbic Cannon, which fired bursts of polarized antimatter beyond the speed of light at specified coordinates and frequency to open a dimensional rift into the Infinity Void. While the Alimbics intended for Gorea to rot for the rest of eternity, they also recognized that it may have been possible in the future that someone may come along with the firepower needed to actually destroy the monster. As such, the Alimbic Cannon was sealed off and made only accessible to those that collected the eight Octoliths, which contained the spirits of the eight Alimbic Elders that existed at the time and were hidden away with their most powerful defensive machines to deter those that may otherwise be too weak to handle Gorea and its power, and even then they had to find the artifacts left by the Alimbics in order to even access the Stronghold Voids where these keys and their guards were contained. With these last steps completed, the Alimbics had spent all of their remaining energy and were forced to abandon their physical bodies completely, essentially ending the existence of their race and leaving the Alimbic Cluster an empty shell of its former self.

Over 2000 years later, the timing of which is still not fully understood, a neural thread was broadcasted from the Alimbic Cluster by an unknown source spouting claims of an “Ultimate Power” hidden in the area. Galactic Federation Empaths picked up the transmission and sent Samus Aran in to investigate; it was her purpose to find out what this “Ultimate Power” really was and secure it or, if that was not possible, destroy it so it could not fall into the wrong hands. Upon arriving in the Alimbic Cluster, however, Samus learned that the Galactic Federation was not the only one that intercepted the message; six other bounty hunters (Kanden, Spire, Weavel, Sylux, Noxus and Trace) traveled there in search of the "Ultimate Power” as well, and while Spire was only there to see if it may hold a key to the vanishing of his race and Noxus was there to make sure it did not end up in the wrong hands as well, all seven bounty hunters were at each other’s throats in their pursuit of the Octoliths that would supposedly open the gateway to the “Ultimate Power”. Samus was able to beat off the other bounty hunters and collected all of the Octoliths to power the Alimbic Cannon, which activated accordingly and opened a hole in the Infinity Void to reveal Oubliette, a moment the other bounty hunters used to get to the structure before Samus’ Gunship could arrive. Samus ran to the heart of the prison to stop their actions, but she was too late; the other bounty hunters were already blasting away at a large, stand-like structure with a giant Seal Sphere on the top in order to see what was contained within. Samus was forced to watch in horror as the Seal Sphere was destroyed and from the dust cloud emerged the awakened Gorea, which latched onto the Seal Sphere it had been sealed away with and used it to energize itself once more before proceeding to attack and drain the energy of the other hunters, copying their weapons in the process and leaving Samus as the only creature left that could stop it.

In this initial state, Gorea still matched the form that he had taken when he had first attacked the Alimbics, but now the Seal Sphere hung in the center of his chest like a heart and acted as its primary means of power. Much like Samus herself, Gorea had has access to the weapons of all the other bounty hunters and had the power to utilize them even more efficiently than their original powers, attacking with modified forms of the weapons that could either be fired rapidly, in large numbers or in different manners from what they were normally capable of. While its body was invulnerable to attack, the semi-mechanical shoulder units that connected its arms to its main body possessed fragile biomorphic neutrons that were rendered vulnerable to the attacks of certain beam weapons. As Gorea switched weapons, so did his body color (though not completely in-sync with the weapon he was using, his color usually lagging by one color behind the color associated with a given weapon) and the weapons that he was most weak to, and Samus was able to exploit these weaknesses to damage Gorea. While the two shoulders would regenerate shortly after one was destroyed, destroying both of them within a reasonable amount of time cut off Gorea’s ability to use its new weapons, its body falling in half over itself with the Seal Sphere rising slightly up from the middle of its structure. In this state, Samus was able to target and damage the Seal Sphere directly, though the monster used its red tentacles to try and throw Trocras at her as well as simply strangle her to death. While Samus had to repeat this attack cycle several times in order to best Gorea, she did eventually take down the monster…at least, for a moment. As Samus had been adventuring across the Alimbic Cluster, she had read many data files regarding a prophecy passed down from the Alimbics to her that had made no sense until she looked around the walls of Gorea’s chambers and saw a series of peculiar switches, each color-coded to be activated only with an associated weapon of the same color. With the order being hinted at in their messages, Samus was able to use the weapons of the other bounty hunters to activate each of these switches in the right order. In the conclusion of her first battle with Gorea, these switches opened up to reveal psychic energy cannons that fired at Gorea and effectively removed all traces of Alimbic power from the Seal Sphere, freeing the psychic essences of all the Alimbics that had sacrificed their lives to imprison the monster. With this, Gorea could no longer survive on simply feasting on the psychic energy of the Alimbics in their spiritual form anymore; it had finally been rendered as a physical construct that could finally and completely be destroyed.

In the wake of this, both Samus and Gorea were teleported to a sealed-off section of the prison, a place where the other bounty hunters could not reach. In its final form, Gorea lost all of its limbs and thus had only its torso and head left, but at this point it had completely fused the Seal Sphere to its body and was attempting to draw power off of it to survive. As a result, the Seal Sphere gained the same immunity to damage its body possessed, effectively making it impossible for Samus to actually damage the monstrosity. While its attack repertoire had been reduced to nothing more than shooting massive balls of super-concentrated energy that could track Samus and explode violently in her face, the battle was lopsided for a short time and Samus had no choice to run. It was not long, however, before Samus’ ship detected the presence of an extremely powerful weapon in her vicinity, which she went to investigate and ultimately found the Omega Cannon. The weapon was left for her in Oubliette as the most direct way to destroy the creature, as the power of the weapon was so great that only a warrior with the body and mind needed to best Gorea in battle would have a chance of wielding it properly. Taking the power of the weapon for her own, Samus used the portable nuclear cannon to inflict direct damage against the Seal Sphere, and with enough blows, she was able to destroy the Seal Sphere and Gorea along with it. The sheer release of all the power it had been encapsulating for millennia proved to be too much for the prison ship to handle, however, and Samus and the other bounty hunters were just barely able to make it out of Oubliette before the entire structure exploded into dust. The “Ultimate Power” that had been spoken of was a lie from Gorea to dupe others into releasing it, but in the end, it was destroyed by Samus and the remaining spiritual essence of the Alimbics was finally able to pass on, leaving the Alimbic Cluster safe for the first time in many millennia.
A report on Gorea. Enjoy.

Gorea has quite a final boss music. At least the second part of his fight.
