Name: Diantha
Moniker: None
Region: Kalos
Role: Champion of the Kalos League
Type Specialty: None

BACKGROUND

Though little may be truly known about the youngest days of this trainer, as Champion of the Kalos region, Diantha more than demonstrates the talents of a fluid actress ready for anything and everything that may happen in a production. By trade, Diantha is a famous movie star known for her dozens of film roles over the years in Europe and is respected for her dedication to the craft and her ability to seemingly mold herself into just about any character imaginable. Diantha had always shown great talent as an actress as a child, and over time, she has managed to acquire a great deal of experience in her choice of career…but oddly enough, this has managed to also translate into great skill as a trainer, so much so that she is considered to be the Champion of the entire Kalos Pokémon League. Even so, she really only considers battling a hobby relative to her primary career, as she much prefers her life as an actress for all of the wonderful traveling and cultural experiences she gets to have as part of it. In many ways, Diantha considers herself to be quite the worldly person and believes that only a combination of different cultural ideals can be used to create a full life, something that she more than demonstrates in battle. Diantha has said on many occasions that she enjoys the changing of the world more than anything else, especially as she herself ages and changes; she believes that it would be a shame to have to play the same parts over and over again. She looks forward to playing different roles as time goes on, and this seems to reflect her ever-changing battle style as well. Diantha might not consider herself to be a professional trainer, but she already demonstrates the unique skills that make a Champion worthy of the title and in turn more than a worthy opponent for the strongest of trainers in the world.

BATTLE STRATEGIES

As befitting of a Pokémon League Champion, Diantha is a woman of many talents in battle and is more than capable of utilizing the best skills of a wide variety of Pokémon to devastate the opposition. In terms of type, Diantha does not really have a huge specialty, preferring to rely on a combination of different types and combat styles to bring out the best individual traits each of her Pokémon have. While some members of her team are primarily defensive or tactical, others specialize in using brute force to win fights and are capable of taking plenty of damage before they fall. No sufficient strategy could be used to describe Diantha’s tactics because, just as her career is always changing, she is constantly adding to and modifying her skills in battle and has been known to pull off some random but effective moves that can easily leave the best of trainers stunned. On top of all this, Diantha has done well in teaching all of her Pokémon a wide diversity of moves, each of which is capable of holding their own in battle and can cover the major weaknesses of her other teammates, creating a powerful tandem that is able to account for all of its weaknesses without any major holes. Trainers will truly have to be on their best when fighting this lady and will have to bring some serious defenses with them into battle if they want any hopes of winning, especially since Diantha’s Gardevoir is capable of Mega Evolving and can therefore provide a devastating offensive force that very few will ever be able to get around.

PRIMARY POKEMON

Aurorus: This beast might not have the greatest of offenses, but it is still more than capable of proving to be a menacing wall in battle. This beast will generally conduct itself in battle by using Light Screen and Reflect techniques to raise defensive walls before unleashing powerful Thunder and Blizzard attacks from afar. This monster can certainly take a lot of punishment but can still be overcome with a bit of offensive might, especially if one has a Pokémon in possession of the Brick Break attack (which will deal critical damage and break through all of its defensive walls).

Tyrantrum: This monster is about as dangerous as it looks and is certainly capable of dealing some serious damage in battle. This beast will waste little time standing idle in battle, instead attacking the opposition full-force in close quarters with devastating Head Smash, Crunch and Dragon Claw attacks while launching fierce Earthquake attacks from afar. This monster is more than capable of dealing immense damage if it gets even a little bit of steam powered up, so great defenses are highly recommended for overcoming its offensive might in battle.

Hawlucha: While this bird may not be the most dangerous of creatures, Diantha’s specimen is more than capable of putting up one heck of a fight. This beast will generally start battle off by using its Feather Dance and Swords Dance techniques to place it at a physical level above the opposition before striking in close quarters with powerful Flying Press, Poison Jab, X-Scissor, Sky Drop, Sky Attack, Endeavor and Hi Jump Kick attacks. This little bird can put up one heck of a fight and prove to be a considerable threat around slower opponents, but its defenses are still low enough to make taking it out a relatively easy task.

Gourgeist: This ghost-like plant might not be the most common of Ghost-types to see in battle, but it is still capable of causing some trouble if left out for too long. This plant will generally start by using its Trick-or-Treat technique to add Ghost-type attributes to a target before unleashing Phantom Force and Shadow Ball attacks for maximum damage, complemented with Seed Bomb attacks for good measure. This plant might not have a lot going for it in terms of move variety, but it can still prove to be a tactical nightmare to deal with as a result of its Pain Split technique, plus it is capable of going out with a bang with an Explosion attack if needed, so eliminating it should be a top priority.

Goodra: This Dragon-type may not be the most conventional of fighters, but it is still more than capable of proving to be a devastating wall against special attacks. This monster will generally choose to forgo tactical moves for sheer destructive power in battle, attacking opponents from afar with devastating Dragon Pulse, Muddy Water, Fire Blast and Focus Blast attacks before finishing off the opposition in close quarters with Aqua Tail, Power Whip, Body Slam and Outrage attacks. This beast is more than capable of inflicting considerable damage over a wide variety of types, so great caution is recommended when this monster hits the battlefield, especially if one does not have access to strong physical attacks.

Gardevoir: By itself, this beast is still a powerful Pokémon, but under Diantha’s command, this simple Gardevoir can instantly become a serious nightmare after it Mega Evolves into Mega Gardevoir at the very beginning of the battle. Diantha’s Mega Gardevoir will usually start off battle by using its Hypnosis technique to incapacitate the opposition before tactically messing with the target through the use of Captivate, Clam Mind and Imprison techniques. At that point, it will proceed to eradicate its opponent with powerful Psychic, Stored Power, Future Sight, Dream Eater, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt and Moonblast attacks. This elegant beast is more than capable of ripping through an entire team by itself and can keep itself healthy for a while using its Heal Pulse technique; as a result, trainers are recommended to bring the most powerful Pokémon they can get ahold of for this battle and prepare for the worst, as this is by far the most powerful member of Diantha’s entire team.

RESERVE POKEMON

Diantha does not possess any reserve Pokémon outside of the ones she uses regularly in battle.

OVERALL DIFFICULTY: 5/5

While it is noted that Diantha’s team is not comprised of the most powerful Pokémon one could possibly choose from, each of them is expertly trained for battle and more than capable of proving to be a difficult target to handle. As any good Champion would, Diantha has done everything in her power to make her team as varied as possible, with different members knowing an assortment of different attacks and having a designated role in her team as either a defensive damage absorber, a tactical fighter that can mess with the opposition, or a purely offensive brute capable of targeting the weaknesses of many different Pokémon and exploiting them for maximum damage. In addition, each member of Diantha’s team is capable of acting as a solo fighter without any real help from its teammates, granting them a unique sort of independence that helps to unify them as a whole and create a powerful combination that even the best of trainers cannot overcome. Diantha might still lack some of the more complex tactics demonstrated by older trainers like Drasna, but she has nonetheless proven to be a devastating fighter and more than worthy of the title of Champion. Trainers looking to beat Diantha will have to forgo trying to mess with her strategies and simply give it their all in battle; only the best of trainers will ever manage to face Diantha in battle, and even then only a few will ever prove to be match for her, a woman that personifies, both in battle and life, that victory can only truly come to those willing to forgo strict strategies and instead let the winds of change decide the fate of one’s destiny.

REWARDS FOR DEFEAT

Defeating Diantha will secure a trainer's identity and Pokémon within the data banks of the Kalos League Hall of Fame for the entire world to see.

For me, Diantha was the easiest Champion of the few I had battled before (Cynthia being the hardest). I battled Diantha countless times until it got to the point of like being on autopilot. Got my pokemon to the nineties and hundred after about a thousand battles.

That was before I realized that there was more in the story mode, and then I felt like an idiot. Not so much when I realized that the new challengers were no stronger than Diantha.

SUCK ON A LEVEL 100 BLAST BURN!!!
