Lunatone (the Meteorite Pokémon) is an uncommon Rock/Psychic-type Pokémon found among meteor craters within the Hoenn, Unova, Kalos and Galar regions as well as the Sinnoh region on rare occasions. Though utterly bizarre in appearance and mysterious in regards to origin, Lunatone are fascinating creatures that easily take the cake when it comes to bringing the best of the Psychic-type to the forefront of Rock-type battles. They might not have the skills needed to put up much of a fight against other fully-evolved Pokémon, but at the very least, these beasts can easily make life a nightmare for any creature foolish enough to fight them in the light of a full moon!

Solrock and Lunatone are mysterious creatures whose origins are both complicated and relatively ambiguous, but at the moment, all that can be said is that they obviously have extraterrestrial connections. Both Solrock and Lunatone were first discovered nearly 60 years ago within an impact crater in the Hoenn region and have since been discovered near meteor craters across the planet (so much, in fact, that they are now being used to seriously determine whether or not a particular crater is extraterrestrial or volcanic in origin); however, this is about all that can be said about them in terms of their actual history on Earth. Both of these creatures seem to hold strong connections with a vital component of the Earth's extragalactic neighbors and consequently base their powers off of it. For Lunatone, it is the moon and their powers are designed to bring out the best of their natural Psychic-type powers, learning the Moonlight, Psyshock, Hypnosis, Future Sight, Magic Room and Moonblast moves; for Solrock, it is the sun, and their powers are designed to harness the pure power of the sun as a direct weapon in battle, learning the Morning Sun, Solar Beam, Zen Headbutt, Wonder Room and Flare Blitz moves. Despite their differences, however, Solrock and Lunatone are both speculated to come from outer space and have come to Earth hidden on or within impacting objects, but considering their rocky bodies are only designed to put up a resistance against relatively high temperatures and would likely be destroyed in the ensuing impact, it is unlikely that they are little more than Earth-born curiosities; still, the truth behind their origins in uncertain.

Lunatone draw their powers from the light reflected by the moon from the sun and thus technically rely on the same source of power as Solrock; the primary difference is that moonlight seems to have a calming effect on these creatures, in turn heightening their natural psychic abilities in the process. Like Solrock, Lunatone are incapable of walking and instead float through the air freely using telekinesis, a trait that gives them the Levitate Ability and thankfully removes one of their biggest natural weaknesses in turn. Although Lunatone are able to utilize a wide array of Psychic-type moves and are relatively efficient in all types of battle, they are unfortunately limited in battle outside because the actual strength of their attacks and techniques is wholly dependent upon how much of the moon is visible at night. This odd link to the lunar cycle has yet to be fully understood (though it does lend some evidence for some sort of extraterrestrial connection) but is nonetheless an extremely important part of these creatures' lives, as it means that they will effectively be able to do little more than float during a new moon but are practically indestructible by normal means under the light of a full moon. Even if their power is not at its strongest point, Lunatone are still a threat against most intermediate trainers, as they are able to easily shock and frighten nervous Pokémon by making their large red eyes glow brightly before putting them to Sleep with a Hypnosis technique. Thankfully, their special abilities can only do so much in battle, so they are more than conquerable in practice; the hard part will be doing so without any knowledge of what phase the moon is currently in.

While they might not be as hard-hitting as other Psychic-type Pokémon, Lunatone are still interesting creatures worth experimenting with if you like the night life. Their capacity to deal damage might be completely dependent upon the time of the month in relation to the lunar cycle, but as long as you're smart about not using one during a darker period, you shouldn't have too much trouble making something out of these odd creatures. Just make sure that you don't make that mistake when trying to catch one; finding a Lunatone in the wild might be a nice thing to have happen at most times of the month, but if the moon is full and bright out, you'll probably just be lucky to escape from the fight in one piece!

i got my lunatone at night in meteor falls,he was hard to catch since he could stop any pokeball in their track but i got him in the end, outside of battle my lunatone likes to relax and while he may be able to sleep in the night and be up in the day he prefers to be up at sundown and go to bed at sunrise(solrock prefers the opposite bed at sundown awake at sun rise)in battle he will not hesistate to fire off a moonblast or other moves depending on the opponents type.
