Creature Name: Petrasyl
General Location: Alimbic Cluster (Celestial Archives, Alinos, Vesper Defense Outpost and Arcterra)
Species Status: Extant

The Petrasyl is a jellyfish-like creature unique to the Tetra Galaxy but otherwise fairly common to find in all parts of the Alimbic Cluster. These creature are fairly simple in structure and possess a single, main neural center with a gelatinous membrane that covers it to keep dust and small particles out of its frame as well as a series of tentacles that hang from the bottom half of its body. These creatures spend most of their lives floating through the air (using electromagnetism) and collect small life forms that flutter near them for energy, stunning them with a potent toxin that liquefies them shortly after contact and thus converts them into a food state that the creature can then readily absorb and process. While the Petrasyl is a hardy creature that can live in just about any environment, even in the scorching heat of a lava pool, they are fairly weak defensively and can easily be killed with a few basic shots from even the Power Beam, but that does not mean that they should wholly be considered to be pushovers. While they might not be able to directly attack anything, the corrosive toxin that they excrete from their bodies has the power to damage metal and energy shields, so they can still deal a bit of contact damage; moreover, they almost always travel in swarms that can quickly overwhelm larger creatures if they cannot be eliminated quickly. Though Petrasyls are definitely not the sturdiest of creatures, they can be a pain when one is low on energy, so it is thankful that they are benign and do not actively attack other creatures for any real reason (though this also means that getting hurt by one can only be one’s own fault for not paying attention to their movement patterns).
A report on the Petrasyl. Enjoy.
