Scolipede (the Megapede Pokémon) is a rare Bug/Poison-type Pokémon found inside forests throughout the Unova, Kalos and Galar regions as well as the Alola region on rare occasions. Ridiculously large and surprisingly fast, Scolipede are true monsters among Bug-types and are rightfully feared by Grass, Dark and even some Psychic-type specialists for their incredible power. They might be nothing more than overgrown bugs to some, but first-time challengers sharing that opinion is doubtful; if anything else, there's something to be said about fighting a bug that's nearly twice your size!

Since Whirlipede are not very efficient at storing and maintaining energy for evolution because of their mobile lifestyles, their inner bodies take an exceptionally long time to grow and mature before evolution allows them to break out of their shells. This is actually both a consequence of their lifestyle and a necessity for survival, as their tough shells are ridiculously hard to crack and break open without considerable force. As they grow and develop, the insides of these creatures become extremely dense and difficult to store, creating visible humps and distortions within their shells shortly before evolution. When they can no longer contain their insides, Whirlipede literally burst out of their shells and uncurl into their fully-grown adult form, Scolipede. To the dismay of many trainers, however, this act of evolution is actually dangerous to observe because the enormous amount of pressure being released from the cracking shell is akin to a small explosion, complete with deadly shrapnel; it is not uncommon for trainers that are too curious about their Whirlipede's evolution to suffer serious injuries or even be killed by this sudden evolution.

While Scolipede lose a bit of the strong defenses that their shells previously provided, they more than make up for the small loss with the ability to learn the Baton Pass technique after evolving, possessing drastically increased physical strength and more than double their previous form's base Speed stat. Scolipede are exceptional hunters and will relentlessly chase down everything that they mark as a meal, ramming them with their powerful Megahorn attack until they finally give up; at this point, Scolipede will use the claws near their necks to pierce the prey, slam them into the ground to stun them, and inject a potent neurotoxin-infused venom (to prevent them from escaping again) before feasting on them in a rapid fashion. Due to their tremendous size, though, Scolipede must search for prey on a near-constant basis and thusly prefer large prey over small ones, as gorging on a single large creature is more energy efficient than devouring several small ones. Much like Venipede, Scolipede are extremely aggressive and will gladly attack anything that suddenly moves into their line of sight, striking with deadly accuracy and agility; this is especially the case with Centiskorch, whom they will gladly fight and devour if they win the struggle (or be eaten in the vice-versa scenario), and this behavior is complimented by their impressive climbing abilities and extremely potent toxins, making Scolipede a viable threat in nearly any situation. Lastly, it should be noted that Scolipede have a unique advantage over many other Bug and Poison-type Pokémon in that their enormous mass grants them the ability to learn powerful attacks like Rock Slide and Earthquake via TM, making them more than tournament-worthy in most situations.

Frightening to behold in person and equally dangerous on the battlefield, Scolipede are monstrous creatures that can easily defeat most opponents right at the get-go with their impressive Speed and devastating offenses. As one of the tallest and heaviest Bug-type Pokémon known alive, you can be sure that these critters will at least intimidate most other Pokémon if they don't simply scare them into a coronary. If you're a Bug Catcher looking to make a major impact, don't be afraid to pick up one of these towering titans; they might not fly or have access to many status-inflicting moves like similar Bug-type families, but when you can simply pummel and squash the opposition into submission on the first turn, that probably won’t matter too much in the short-run!

First, Venipede curls up into a Whirlipede kinda like a cocoon, a dangerous cocoon that is like a death wheel and then it explodes when it hatched into a Scolipede. both wow and yikes!
