Servine Report

Servine (the Grass Snake Pokémon) is an exceptionally rare Grass-type Pokémon found among grasslands and forests within the Unova region, the Blueberry Academy Terarium and the Alola region on rare occasions. Deceptively agile and quick-witted, Servine are interesting creatures that specialize in combining four-legged and no-legged movements to befuddle and confuse opponents. What these critters lack in sheer offense, they definitely make up for in agility and speed; just don't focus on locating them too much in battle, as your eyes will have a hard time keeping track of them!

Much like Leafeon, the members of the Snivy family contain both plant and animal cells within their bodies, making proper classification somewhat difficult. While they are technically reptilian and are closely related to snakes, these creatures obtain most of their nutrition through photosynthesis; however, they are still known to hunt for small prey at night when they need extra energy. Much like snakes, the members of the Snivy family spend the majority of their time basking in the warmth of the sun; this is not only because they are cold-blooded and need the warmth to survive, but also because they can internally boost any solar energy taken in and use it to power up their attacks and accelerate their movement. At full strength, the members of this family can move unbelievably fast, making it hard for opponents to keep up with them. It should be noted, however, that this is their only way of dealing with particularly troublesome foes; aside from a few exceptions, the members of the Snivy family can only learn Normal and Grass-type offensive moves and are thus highly limited in their combat roles without the use of TMs.

Servine possess photosynthesizing cells throughout their bodies (unlike Snivy, who possess most of them in their tails), which grants them both an increased energy capacity and stronger Grass-type attacks. The only major drawback to this, however, is that the plant cells within them begin to attack their vestigial limbs upon evolution, turning them into struts that resemble twigs more than they do limbs. In order to compensate for their decreased limb stability, Servine begin to incorporate much more snake-like movements into their daily lives, only using their limbs when absolutely necessary. This gives them a unique advantage in battle, as they can quickly go from a standing position to having their entire bodies on the ground, slithering along at incredible speeds; this sudden transition is often more than enough to confuse and befuddle foes, forcing them to look for Servine on the ground and giving Servine enough time to close the gap between them. Once they get close enough, Servine will strike at their opponent with their powerful Vine Whip attack before retreating to safety; because of their deceptive agility, these hit-and-run tactics are usually more than enough to win most battles. Battling against a Servine is especially unwise while in a forested area, as they can use the thick foliage of bushes and other low-lying plants for cover; even so, though, it is noted that battling near dirty terrain is not a good idea on any occasion. Because their bodies are stuck in a transitional phase between being a reptilian quadruped and a true snake/plant hybrid, the photosynthesizing cells on their bodies have not developed a strong coating to repel dirt and thus become incapable of actually photosynthesizing if they become dirty. As a precaution to this, Servine will often do what they can to keep themselves as clean in order to make sure that they have enough energy to fight properly in a fight; even so, in the thick of battle, this can be taken advantage of as they will be unable to battle for more than a few minutes if they are unable to draw energy from the sun above, requiring trainers to think fast if they want to keep their Servine in good physical condition.

Though they might not have the strength to take many blows before being knocked out, Servine can usually entertain most opponents by tricking them into actually looking for them instead of blocking attacks. Despite their obvious lack of move diversity, these strange creatures can mop up the competition easily with the right amount of training as long as they aren't caught. If that happens, though, don't feel too bad; these critters are so calm-minded and obnoxious towards opponents that the closest thing you'll see to fear in their faces is a smug little smirk!
