Steenee (the Fruit Pokémon) is an uncommon Grass-type Pokémon found among forests within the Alola, Galar and Paldea regions. Thought they might be just as sweet to the taste as Bounsweet, Steenee are fierce fighters that will do everything in their power to drive attackers away from their juicy bodies. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stay away from these creatures if you’re in the mood for a quick snack; otherwise, you may end up getting kicked in the face like you just ended up on the wrong side of an angry horse!

When Bounsweet evolve into Steenee, the calyx on their heads hardens considerably to the point where it is nearly as hard as the hardest berry seeds in the region, and thus makes for a great weapon to use in battle. When these creatures evolve, they also end up growing a second pair of limbs in the forms of arms, complete with hands that allow them to learn the Double Slap attack immediately after evolving. In addition, the legs of these creatures lengthen dramatically and become incredibly hard, allowing them to deliver devastating kick attacks in close quarters and in turn making it possible for them to learn the Stomp attack in place of the Flail attack learned by Bounsweet. In battle, these plants will generally utilize their natural anatomy to take down opponents with a strong one-two punch, using the hard calyx on their heads to smack the opposition to cause them to flinch before delivering a nasty kick that usually gets the message across that they are not to be trifled with, sending most predators, like Corvisquire, scurrying away. Of course, this won’t become a valid strategy until they get the chance to learn the Stomp attack later in life, but this can still give them the edge to in making sure the opposition knows that they are not something they want to underestimate. Even their bodies exude this message, as the sepals on their body have grown larger and now cover the lower half of their body like armor, not only making them relatively impenetrable to the pecks of most bird Pokémon (to the point where Steenee will actively play with bird Pokémon without any care towards their safety) but also allowing them to learn the Leaf Storm attack late in life, thus giving them access to powerful Grass-type offenses that Bounsweet have no access to. The rind there can also be peeled off their bodies and pulverized to make a treatment for stomach pains, though this is best done when they are deceased to avoid seriously hurting and infuriating them.

When these creatures evolve, the sweet aroma and antiperspirant that they gave off as Bounsweet intensifies to the point where they can use it to utilize a Captivate technique, but this is about the only thing that turns sweeter in these creatures after they evolve. On one hand, because they actually have decent defenses and offenses they can use to deter predators, Steenee do not show any fear towards other Pokémon and will play with others gleefully in the sunlight, always bouncing around energetically and in such a way that it entices other wild Pokémon to join them in their happy romp through the forest without Steenee fearing for their life, releasing a sweet smell as they do so that tends to make others feel happy. On the other hand, this also has the effect of making them more tomboyish and difficult to control as they will gladly go around smacking objects and other Pokémon with their hard calyx and the sepals on their head with little care towards who or what they hit and how hard they hit. As such, they can be a bit of a handful to deal with sometimes and just trying to live with one indoors can be a nightmare if they get angry and decide to go on a rampage. Thankfully, their outrageous behavior can be controlled with patience and a little care, and their attitude can be rendered more docile with repeated battles and trust-building exercises.

While they might not look to be the most offensively-powerful Pokémon out there, Steenee are still interesting creatures that can definitely put a spring back in the step of those that choose to play with them. It might not be that hard for them to get carried away sometimes, but with time, their attitudes can be mollified and rendered more favorable to cooperative efforts in and out of battle. Just make sure that you build a strong relationship of trust and understanding with them before they learn how to master the Stomp attack, as the consequences of this task might make them think of you as the inferior party and the one that should be battling against others in their place!

Are there any strong Steenee out there who doesn’t evolve?
