Tranquill (the Wild Pigeon Pokémon) is a relatively uncommon Normal/Flying-type Pokémon found among fields and forests within the Unova and Galar regions as well as the Hoenn region on rare occasions. Though relatively calm and difficult to anger, Tranquill are moderately-speedy creatures that can certainly deal considerable damage against unprepared opponents if they have a decent type advantage. They might not be quite as friendly towards all creatures as their pre-evolved form, but when it comes to loyalty, you can be sure that these birds will never lose track of where you are!

Tranquill are exceptionally calm creatures that almost never attack others unless thoroughly provoked, in due part because of their ability to sense the motions of others with their Detect technique. Despite their large numbers in the wild, however, Tranquill nests are not seen as often as their numbers would otherwise suggest; in essence, it appears that many nests in the wild are being hidden. While many attempts have been made to try to locate the nests and possible habitats most of these creatures call home, the thick forests and sometimes volatile denizens of the Unova region have prevented thorough searches for some time. Many people have begun to speculate that the places that most Tranquill hide must be places free of strife and war, as they have apparently gone undetected for as long as humans have been occupying the area. While the chances of such a situation being the real case are quite low, it is nonetheless remarkable that Tranquill nesting grounds have been virtually impossible for humans to find as long as recorded history in the Unova region goes back, suggesting that Tranquill might possibly represent an undiscovered case of utopian society.

Regardless, Tranquill are powerful birds despite their otherwise short stature and are loyal to the extreme, most likely a product of their use by humans. Though it might seem odd because of their size, there are many people that have used and still use Tranquill in place of homing pigeons because of not only their ability to actually fight back against attackers but also their innate homing ability. Homing pigeons usually can only home in on one area, their home, and must either be manually carried back to a certain position or trained to fly between two spots by using food as bait. Tranquill, on the other hand, can easily learn where to fly either by simply looking at a picture or image of the place or by smelling something associated with their particular destination (usually, both are used in combination to prevent any confusion). This trait is equally present among Tranquill owned by trainers, as they are able to locate their trainer, no matter how far away they might be, by locating the chemical odors they give off; not surprisingly, as a result of this, they are favored as partners for delivery services in the regions they occupy. Unfortunately, Tranquill are still not exceptionally bright and can be lured into a death-trap easily by others if their owners are used as bait, a tactic that led the traditional homing pigeon to be used more extensively during times of war.

Though they might not be able to battle as effectively as some other bird Pokémon, Tranquill are still decent creatures that can put up one heck of a fight if given the chance. You might find their lack of learnable attacks before evolution too much to swallow, but if you can stick with these birds until evolution, you will definitely be proud of the results. Even if you don't want to battle with one, you could always use one as your personal mail-carrier; however, if you're a spy that needs to keep loose ends tied up, you would probably be better-off investing in disposable cell-phones!

What impresses me is the magnitude of their homing instincts, and the persistence to find their trainers and homes, however far.
