Vikavolt (the Stag Beetle Pokémon) is a rare Bug/Electric-type Pokémon found among grassy fields, forests and mountainous terrain within the Alola, Galar and Kitakami regions. Incredibly powerful despite their small size and more than capable of proving to be a serious threat in battle, Vikavolt are amazing insects that can easily get the drop on the opposition with the sheer amount of electrical power they can wield. They might look like ordinary insects from afar, but you would be foolish to approach them unprotected; provoke them, and you may find out what’s like to get with a fully-powered Zap Canon attack to the face!

Although Charjabug are normally incapable of undergoing evolution at a relatively quick pace, if they are able to grow in the presence of an extremely intense magnetic field or are exposed to the radiant energy of a Thunder Stone, their electrical energy reserves can be filled up incredibly quickly, providing them with enough power to finish developing internally and finally escape from their cocoon prison. In evolving into Vikavolt, these creatures fail to regain the full degree of mobility they possessed before evolution as a result of the immense weight of their fully-evolved form and their base Defense stat takes a slightly larger hit with the loss of their protective cocoon; everything else about them increases significantly, though, in particular their Special Attack stat, which rockets up to a level so high that few other Pokémon can ever hope to top it. Moreover, in their adult form, these creatures have the ability to fly, but because of their mass and the fact that their type-based powers seem to respond the strongest to their Bug and Electric-type attacks, it is believed that these creatures are only able to truly fly because of the repulsing electromagnetic field that is generated by the electricity-storing organ in their abdomens, in turn granting them access to the Levitate Ability. Moreover, in their adult state, these creatures are capable of harnessing electricity as a devastating weapon to energize themselves with and destroy prey and anything else that dares to approach them, gaining access to the Thunderbolt attack immediately after evolving and eventually gaining access to the Guillotine, Bug Buzz, Fly, Zap Cannon and Agility moves. Overall, Vikavolt are a vast improvement over their previous evolution, and though somewhat on the slow side, are more than a lethal threat to those that cannot counter their special power.

Vikavolt utilize their electrical powers to zap bird Pokémon and Flying-types in general out of the sky as easy prey, building up electrical energy in their body before focusing it in their front pincers and using them like an electromagnetic railgun to fire massive beams of electricity at targets as a primary form of offense. Vikavolt can control the power of these attacks by adjusting the space in between their jaws, with their weapon’s full power being seen when the creatures close their pincers as much as possible without closing them completely. Despite their slow combat speed, these creatures are incredibly agile when moving in short bursts and can use their electromagnetic powers to zip around the battlefield to dodge attacks, moving along between the tangled branches of plants in forests without ever hitting anything and utilizing tailspins and sharp turns to fluster and get the drop on their enemies and often times focusing on locating the weakest point on an opponent before firing a massive beam of electricity to stun and potentially kill them. Although these creatures can store a significant amount of charge in their bodies, their somewhat violent temperament often leads them to expend all of their energy at one time; instead of leaving themselves open to attack, these creatures will often use their legs to grasp Charjabug on the ground and absorb the electricity stored within to refuel themselves to continue their assault over the course of a long battle, dropping the creatures back down to the ground when done in order to increase their mobility once more. This might weaken the chances of its brethren ever managing to reach adulthood, but for Vikavolt, survival is the name of the game, and they will gladly sacrifice the wellbeing of others in order to devastate their competition and render them unable to continue fighting anymore. Not surprisingly, this explains why a Vikavolt once served as the Totem Pokémon at the Hokulani Observatory on Ula’ula Island of the Alola region, dwelling in the mountainous terrain in waiting to challenge trainers that wished to pass the Electric-type Trial, before it was replaced by the current Totem Pokémon, a Togedemaru.

Deceptively powerful by nature and more than capable of taking a surprising beating in battle, Vikavolt are monstrous insects that can easily make life an electrifying pain for those that cannot show resistance against their special assaults. With the highest base Special Attack stat out of all Bug-type and non-UB Electric-type Pokémon (the latter tied with Therian Forme Thundurus) and a wicked degree of agility that most other flying insects can only dream about, it goes without saying that these insects can more than ruin your day if you can’t find a way to get around their electrical powers. If you find yourself in need of a quick charge and a Charjabug isn’t working, though, you might want to think twice about using these critters; they might have the power needed to restore a power plant that’s been put out of commission, but considering that few electrical appliances are built to handle their kind of power, any attempt to use them like a battery is more likely to end in an electrical explosion than the successful toasting of bread in the morning!

Even seen the Vikavolt Race on Poni Island in Alola?

It's where Trainers equip their Vikavolts with VR armor with a camera that can be viewed through VR goggles to see where their Vikavolts are going during the race.
