Abomasnow (the Frost Tree Pokémon) is a rare Grass/Ice-type Pokémon found among icy mountaintops and plains within the Sinnoh, Kalos, Galar, Hisui and Paldea regions and the Blueberry Academy Terarium. Vicious and unrelenting in battle, Abomasnow are monstrous creatures that enjoy nothing more than obliterating anything than dares to disturb them or even get near them with blinding blizzards and freezing-cold temperatures. They might be nothing more than overgrown plants, but this is certainly not the kind of plant that you want to go after with anything other than serious heat; otherwise, you just might find out what it's like to get frozen solid by a true abominable snowman!

As with Snover, Abomasnow are believed to have descended from an ancient type of pine native to the Sinnoh region's colder areas and have effectively developed in almost complete isolation. Although they are not true predators in the sense that they don't have to hunt other creatures to survive, Abomasnow are nonetheless considered to be among the fiercest creatures in their native land because of their unrelenting brutality, being strong enough to readily demolish boulders, and their detest towards other life forms, often times playing around in snow and living in almost total isolation. Despite being plants, Abomasnow contain fairly high concentrations of protein within their bark and inner flesh, possibly as a result of becoming somewhat animal-like in their independence from photosynthesis; this in turn means that they are often hunted by pack animals such as Weavile and their young by Galarian Darumaka when other food sources are low, though both parties are usually left at odds when dealing with the beasts' Ice Punch attack (which they learn immediately after evolving), the defensive benefits given by their Aurora Veil technique, and in general their massive form, as they swing their arms like hammers to ward off predators. In defense, Abomasnow have learned to use their natural ability to lower the ambient air temperature enough to facilitate the crystallization of water vapor (their Snow Warning Ability) in combination with their Blizzard attack to literally sheath themselves in violent blizzards whenever they move around outside, a single vigorous shake being enough to cause whiteout conditions instantly; among experts, this has earned the species the fitting title of "The Ice Monster". This can make it dangerous for even Ice-types to approach them let alone see them, and it makes Abomasnow all but impossible for humans and non-Ice-types to view in their natural habitat. The only time that Abomasnow do come out of hiding and show themselves is when flowers begin to bloom at the bottom of mountain peaks in the spring, as they seem to enjoy being amongst such pretty flowers and in fact aid in their pollination (possibly out of guilt or remembrance of some sort, as Abomasnow are unable to produce more than a single fruit a year due to structural changes in their form after evolution). Once the flowers die off, Abomasnow return to isolation and are generally not seen until the next year.

It is interesting to note that, despite the various claims that have been made to the contrary, there are in fact no abominable snowmen within the Sinnoh region; only Abomasnow. The elusive creature, otherwise known as the Yeti, has been hunted by humans for ages along with its non-arctic counterpart, Sasquatch; not surprisingly, these searches have led people to the most ridiculous of places in their search, including the frozen mountain peaks of the Sinnoh region. Many reports of these creatures in the Sinnoh region have recently been confirmed to be complete and utter misidentifications while within the hounding blizzards that Abomasnow conjure up while outside. This is not to say that the yeti is a completely fictitious creature, as there is substantial evidence supporting the possibility of its existence in the wild; its existence in the Sinnoh region, on the other hand, is a complete and utter impossibility. Aside from the isolation of the area, the one thing that makes this impossibility of this notion is that, after re-examining video and footprint evidence gathered by people over the years in the region, a crack-team of sasquatch and yeti investigators was able to prove that the all-too-common blurry images of the creatures were nothing more than the reduced outlines of Abomasnow hidden by their own blizzards. Unfortunately, this has also opened up the possibility that all other yeti sightings are merely creatures that resemble the beast hidden by snow, but in light of the isolation of Abomasnow and similarly-looking species, the chances of this are unlikely.

It is lastly noted that Abomasnow is one of only 46 species of Pokémon known to be capable of undergoing Mega Evolution. With an Abomasite in hand, Mega Evolution grants these icy plants a massive body form that is considerably larger and heavier than its normal form (complete with massive pillars of ice sprouting from their backs), so much so that the beasts cannot remain on two limbs and in turn must walk around on all fours to move; otherwise, though, they are quite similar to their normal form and retain the same Ability they normally have, Snow Warning. This change in movement stance does not seem to deter Mega Abomasnow much, however, as their aggression levels are substantially increased as Mega Abomasnow and they become prone to attacking just about anything that dares to get in their way. In terms of stats, this increase in size and mass considerably lowers the base Speed stat of Mega Abomasnow but is more than made up by a moderate increase to their base Special Defense stat, a considerable increase to their base Defense stat, and a critical increase to their base Attack and Special Attack stats; in turn, they gain the highest base Attack stat out of all non-UB Grass-type Pokémon and the highest base Special Attack stat out of all non-legendary Ice-type Pokémon. Mega Abomasnow might not have any new tricks to lend in battle, but they are truly living tanks in this form and can more than bring some serious offensive power that few opponents will be able to easily handle.

While they might not prove to be the most powerful Grass or Ice-types available to any trainer, Abomasnow are nonetheless deadly creatures for any traditional Grass or Flying-type type to go up against. With a wicked selection of both physical and special attacks at their disposal and a killer Blizzard attack sure to freeze lesser creatures solid, it goes without saying that this is one plant you can expect to get the cold shoulder from a lot. If you know what's good for you and anyone around you, you should try to keep these arctic pines as far away from warm environments as possible; it might not put Abomasnow in harm's way directly, but it's sure to ruin any holiday parties going on outside when a snow front literally moves in out of nowhere!

Abomasnow's Snow Warning-Blizzard combo is awesome!
