Chimecho (the Wind Chime Pokémon) is a relatively rare Psychic-type Pokémon found among grassy fields, mountains and old buildings within the Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Hisui and Kitakami regions as well as the Kanto and Johto regions on rare occasions. Though usually ignored in favor of more threatening fighters, Chimecho are interesting creatures that certainly take the functions of wind chimes to a whole new level of pain. Sure, they might look fragile and easily defeated, but you'll think twice about insulting them to their face after you've been knocked to the ground by their Uproar attack!

Chingling and Chimecho are unique among Psychic-types for their reliance on sound as their primary means of defense and offense. Both of their bodies are almost completely hollow and thusly make excellent resonating chambers for sound waves; however, while Chingling are only able to produce a single ringing noise, Chimecho possess a complex enough internal structure to produce seven distinct noises. In addition, the normal cries of Chingling are often too high-pitched for humans to hear properly, an issue that is obviously absent from Chimecho; even when utilized properly, Chingling are only able to deafen foes with their noise, while Chimecho can produce concussive waves of force from the sound of even the slightest of breezes that are strong enough to knock opponents to the ground. The inability to properly channel sound waves seems to be the result of a genetic mutation brought upon un-hatched Chimecho eggs by the presence of certain chemical odors, just as with many other types of 'baby' Pokémon. This lack of control is especially evident in these creatures' movements, as every single flouncing hop they make causes the bell-like orb in the back of their throat to vibrate; Chimecho, because they can control their Levitate Ability more efficiently, do not have this problem. As such, trainers should be careful about their Chimecho eggs and should only have them mutated into Chingling eggs if they are looking to at least add them to one's Pokédex.

Chimecho are among the easiest fully-evolved Pokémon to train, if only because they seem to enjoy the company of humans to a tremendous degree. Chimecho tend to rely on the wind when moving across vast distances in the warmer seasons and seem rather care-free in terms of their final destination or any sudden stops along the way; to these creatures, every stop is a potential new home. Chimecho often disguise themselves as actual wind chimes by using the sucker pad on their heads to attach themselves to tree branches or the eaves of homes; this is most likely done as a way of fooling potential predators. At night, these creatures roam their habitats freely, using their long tails to pluck berries from trees and low-lying bushes without ever having to go near the ground. If faced with significant opposition, Chimecho will use their incredibly strong Uproar attack to knock back their attackers, giving them enough time to escape. Overall, though, Chimecho are rather weak and unfit for long periods of intense combat, relegating their usefulness to that of pets or even party decorations.

For trainers that are just looking for a friendly Pokémon to act as a close companion or even a party favor, Chimecho are some of the best candidates available. While their Uproar attack might be enough to severely stun and knock back most opponents, these adorable critters are better left to their own devices in the wild. Of course, if you like taking a few risks here and there, they aren't too bad to work with; as long as you're opponent has working ears and doesn't have the Soundproof Ability, these odd critters can certainly help give the opposition a headache before you put them to 'sleep' with a final knockout blow!

Man, Chimecho used to be so rare, but not so rare anymore due to its pre-evolution Chingling being more common.
