Mandibuzz (the Bone Vulture Pokémon) is a relatively rare Dark/Flying-type Pokémon found within forests and deserts within the Unova, Alola, Galar and Kitakami regions, the Blueberry Academy Terarium, most of North America and possibly the Hoenn region. Vicious and heartless, Mandibuzz are expert scavengers that will gladly devour whatever food they can find, regardless of whether it's dead or still moving. Make sure to keep a watchful eye towards the sky while traveling through deserts and forests populated by these birds; you never know when you might be snatched right off the ground for food!

Vullaby and Mandibuzz are always female because the two species reproduce through internal cloning. It appears that this way of reproduction is an adaptation to extreme desert life, where food is too scarce and therefore energy too precious to waste on sexual reproduction. Both species are avid scavengers and will patiently wait until wandering prey dies from heat exposure or exhaustion, picking their corpses clean afterwards. However, it is interesting to note that these creatures demonstrate a somewhat strange connection with the corpses they devour, as they constantly use their bones for both offensive and defensive purposes. It is currently unknown if this done simply because the two species have little in the way of sheer offense or if the bones hold some sort of symbolic purpose; regardless, their skill at using them rivals that of Cubone and Marowak, if only because their ability to fly grants them a wider diversity of attack methods.

Possessing greater natural resistance against damage, Mandibuzz only decorate part of their bodies with bones in order to reduce their weight while flying; nonetheless, the additional armor provides these birds with surprising resistance against both physical and special attacks, and there does seem to be more than just this to their meaning, as certain types of bones regularly fall in and out of use like changing fashion trends. Given that they do not have any natural predators, though, it is not currently known why they bother with the armor in the first place; some hypothesize that the bones are worn in order to attract males, but seeing as no male Mandibuzz has ever been found, it seems unlikely that they are made to attract the same species. They also possess incredible natural strength, as they are able to easily lift an entire human aloft with little effort. However, aside from carcasses, Mandibuzz prefer to prey only on weakened prey, as they and especially the hungry Vullaby chicks they are often tasked with raising are not offensively strong enough to deal with prey that still has considerable fighting strength left. When they spot a creature that is dead, dying or incredibly weak (with Cubone in particular being a favorite snack), Mandibuzz will swoop down and grab them with their talons, hoisting them back to their nests for a proper meal. Not surprisingly, Mandibuzz build their nests out of the bones of their prey, with Cubone skeletons being their primary construction material in places like the Alola region; by skillfully weaving the bones together like a demented tapestry, Mandibuzz are able to make their nests virtually invulnerable to the ravages of wind, sand, water and ice. In emergency situations, Mandibuzz will even use bones offensively, dropping them on opponents or swinging them like clubs at close range to stun them; this is highlighted in their capacity to learn the Bone Rush attack immediately after evolving, making them a potential threat even against Electric-types and working well in combination with the Sky Attack and Toxic moves they can also learn after evolving, the lattermost being a product of eating rotting, tainted meat. Despite their ruffian nature, these creatures are still surprisingly good parents, as they will gladly take in lost and abandoned Vullaby into their nest and raise them as their own until they are old enough to leave the nest, adding depth to the character of these otherwise menacing vultures.

Though they might look like all show and no fight, Mandibuzz are vicious creatures that will gladly use beak, claw and bones to smash and tear apart those who underestimate them. With the highest base HP stat out of all non-legendary, non-UB, non-Paradox Dark-type Pokémon and a nasty habit of dropping in unexpectedly, you can bet that these vultures will make quite an impact once they get going in battle. Take note if you see these Pokémon circling you while traveling through their natural environment, as unless you have some powerful Electric, Rock or Ice-type Pokémon to scare them off with, you may find yourself becoming these birds' latest picnic spread!

Since Mandibuzz is a vulture Pokemon, it mostly feeds on dead corpses. Right?

I can imagine a Mandibuzz watching you and hoping that you might die so it can feast on you.

Especially when a flock of Mandibuzzes circle around you.
