Minccino (the Chinchilla Pokémon) is a relatively common Normal-type Pokémon found among grassy fields within the Unova, Alola and Galar regions, the Blueberry Academy Terarium and possibly the Hoenn region. Utterly adorable and tidy to a fault, Minccino are simple creatures that enjoy nothing more than cleaning, no matter what sort of situation they might be in. These critters might not be the best of fighters, but you'll have to look hard to find a better maid in the Pokémon world!

Minccino are closely related to Chinchillas and are almost identical to them in terms of mental functions; in truth, their combat abilities and behavior are the only things that truly distinguish them as Pokémon. Minccino eat berries and some herbal plants as food but prefer their food as fresh as possible, making their lifestyles a bit more active than that of a normal chinchilla. They are generally quite friendly and enjoy playing around with other Pokémon (especially other Minccino, whom they greet by cleaning each other’s tails and boast about if they have the fluffier tail of the two), so they can certainly make great partners for young trainers. However, Minccino are somewhat weak in terms of actual physical strength, so they usually end up being treated as pets rather than actual combatants.

Minccino are inherently picky about their living conditions and absolutely hate dirt and filth of any kind; as such, they do whatever it takes to keep their surroundings as tidy as possible, sweeping and cleaning things with their fluffy tails to the point of sometimes being a bit of a problem. It comes as no surprise then that Minccino are highly attracted to shiny objects and especially objects that could be shiny with the proper amount of cleaning, which they gladly do for seemingly no reason at all. Unfortunately, this has often led to Minccino stealing objects simply to clean them before returning them; while harm rarely ever comes to the objects in question, this act is nonetheless seen as annoying (and sadly cute) to many trainers. Aside from acting as a large duster to clean objects, their body and their nest (washing them in spring water for an entire day to get them clean again after heavy use), the tails of Minccino are also their primary means of offense, as they are heavily reinforced internally by strong muscles and a compact skeletal array. In particular, Minccino are able to use their tails as powerful whips in battle, striking opponents repeatedly with them at close range; aside from being relatively powerful for a multi-strike attack, this move (known as the Tail Slap attack) is unique to both Minccino and their evolved form, Cinccino, with only a scant few others having access to it as an Egg Move.

Strangely cute in terms of both physical appearances and mannerisms, Minccino are interesting creatures that can definitely give you a good laugh if you have something that needs to be cleaned. Though they might not be the greatest of fighters, these little critters will definitely give it their all in every battle and can deal surprising damage with their bizarre Tail Slap attack. Just try not to battle them against any Pokémon with shiny armor or body parts; otherwise, you may find your Pokémon more concerned about cleaning up the opposition than beating it in battle!

My pet chinchilla, Chico, passed away two months ago. In honor of him, I nicknamed all of my Minccino "Chico."
