Smoochum Report

Smoochum (the Kiss Pokémon) is an uncommon Ice/Psychic-type Pokémon found among icy caverns and snowy fields within the Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola amd Galar regions. Unbelievably cute and adored by women across the planet, Smoochum are friendly creatures that can certainly be made into great friends if close attention is paid to them. If you don't like being kissed or having lip marks on your belongings, though, steer clear of these critters at all costs because that's the only way they really know how to introduce themselves!

When Smoochum are first born, most of their external body parts are still developing and are not up to the task of being used extensively for any purpose; the one exception to this fact are their lips, which contain a full array of neurological sensors upon their birth. Since their sense of touch is relatively weak in every other external body part, Smoochum choose to use their lips in place of hands or feet, kissing everything they come across in order to gather information on its texture, density and durability and licking the dirt off of their lips before attempting to interact with anything using their limbs. This requires them to maintain a degree of moistness and plumpness in their lips in order for them to work effectively, which they usually solve through daily applications of tree sap. Although their habit of kissing everything is born out of sheer necessity, women across the globe have been going nuts for Smoochum because of it for centuries, making them one of the few species of Pokémon that is almost exclusively seen among female trainers (a trait even Pokémon like Delcatty do not share). Thankfully, Smoochum do not have the toxic lips associated with their evolved form, Jynx (which are directly responsible for their special signature move, the Lovely Kiss technique) and can only use them offensively in a Sweet Kiss technique, so they are among one of the safer Pokémon to be around despite their otherwise impressive selection of attacks and techniques. It is duly noted, however, that their stats are still high enough to make Smoochum dangerous combatants that young trainers should be especially careful around.

Unlike their evolved form, Smoochum are quite sweet to be around and enjoy the company of others greatly, often times trying to socialize even when it might not otherwise be appropriate; though Jynx are also social, they tend to be so in a more direct and less innocent way, making their pre-evolved form a bit easier to handle in public spaces. It is noted, though, that despite their differences in intention and the fact that Smoochum have access to only Sweet Kiss while their evolves form gets both that move and the Lovely Kiss technique, Smoochum and Jynx are very similar in terms of physical behavior and intelligence. Much as Jynx move their bodies back and forth, Smoochum will often bob their heads back in forth in order to keep their hearts beating at the proper pace. In addition, Smoochum hate to get their face dirty and are very picky about their looks in that regard, though they might not otherwise care how the rest of their form looks; if they fall down while running around, Smoochum will take the first chance they get to check their reflection in a body of water so they can clean up any dirt smeared on their faces, a trait that can prove to be more annoying than cute after an extended amount of time.

Though they might not be able to take much in the way of physical punishment before being knocked out, Smoochum are interesting creatures that can become exceptionally powerful if raised long enough to take full advantage of their special powers. They might not have the advantage of being able to learn the devastating Lovely Kiss technique and may have very little in the way of extreme offense until they pass the normal point of evolution, but it cannot be argued that these cute critters are among the more powerful infant Pokémon known to exist. Whether you want a powerful Jynx for your team or just an adorable companion to travel with, you can't go wrong with starting off with one of these creatures; just be careful about how friendly you let them be around other people, as not everyone enjoys a wet, sloppy kiss without fair warning!
