Venusaur (the Seed Pokémon) is an exceptionally rare Grass/Poison-type Pokémon found among grassy fields and forests within the Kanto region and the Blueberry Academy Terarium as well as the Alola and Galar regions on rare occasions. Renowned for their powerful strength and devastating Solar Beam attack, Venusaur are dangerous creatures that won't think twice about slamming their enormous bulk into the nearest opponent if needed. They might not be the strongest fighters in terms of sheer power, but with the ability to store enough solar energy to power a small amusement park, the only thing that will really spoil the fun of these brutes is the intense heat of a Fire-type Pokémon, and even then not so much!

When the flower bud on the backs of Ivysaur finally blooms, it releases a powerful fragrance that can be smelled from up to 250 feet away; when Ivysaur smell this fragrance, it causes a chemical reaction in their brains that forces growth hormones to be produced at an astronomical rate. These growth hormones act ridiculously quickly, altering the creatures' physical structure and increasing both their size and the size of the parasitic plant, the end result of this process being their evolved form, Venusaur. Because of the parasitic plant's increased size, Venusaur cannot run at all and must spend extremely long periods of time under direct sunlight in order to have enough energy to live, further forcing them to keep on the move as the sun shifts position throughout the day. While this technically makes them even more vulnerable to attack, the aroma produced by their parasitic plant has a calming effect on Pokémon and people around it (in battle terms, this means that its Sweet Scent technique is extremely potent, especially if utilized after a rainstorm), essentially reducing the threat of any one individual. Beyond that, their massive girth is more than enough to deter most predators; relatively few opponents are ever foolish enough to get too close to Venusaur, lest they be struck by their powerful Double-Edge, Petal Blizzard (which they gain access to immediately after evolution) and Petal Dance attacks. In addition, the fully-bloomed flower on their backs is able produce vast quantities of powder when Venusaur utilize it for their Poison Powder and Sleep Powder techniques, often times producing huge clouds of powder that can easily enshroud unprotected (and often unsuspecting) trainers.

Now that the parasitic plant has produced its fully-bloomed flower, however, Venusaur are more dangerous than almost any other non-legendary Grass-type Pokémon. With its petals outstretched, the plant is able to store absolutely ridiculous amounts of solar energy within its tissues and the tissue of its host. In fact, one Venusaur alone has the ability to store enough solar energy to power a small amusement park (or an entire fair, depending on how you look at it) for at least a day or two if they are relatively healthy. Putting this into battle context, it explains why Venusaur possess the most powerful Solar Beam attack out of all Pokémon; even Steel-type Pokémon usually have a hard time withstanding a direct hit. When battling with or against Venusaur, this needs to be taken into great consideration, along with two other things. First, during the summertime, the amount of sunlight is at its maximum; hence forth, the power of Solar Beam attacks reaches its peak during this time. Second, take into consideration the health of the parasitic plant on their backs, as the healthier the plant is, the more vivid its color will be.

It is further noted that Venusaur is one of only 46 species of Pokémon known to be capable of undergoing Mega Evolution. Holding onto a Venusaurite, Mega Evolution triggers a massive chemical reaction within the bodies of Venusaur that accelerates the growth of their bloom even more so than normal, forcing the beasts to grow in size and mass and acquiring both an additional pair of vines for offensive purposes and much thicker legs in order to better bear the weight of the massive flower. Despite the fact that the flower on their back is even larger than before and has begun to spawn smaller flowers on the head of Mega Venusaur, these beasts do not change disposition in Mega Evolution and are thus surprisingly easy to control. In terms of stats, this increase in size and mass has the effect of moderately increasing Mega Venusaur’s base Attack, Special Attack and Special Defense stats and critically increasing their base Defense stat; in turn, they gain the highest base stat total out of all Poison-type Pokémon and the highest base Special Defense stat out of all non-legendary Grass-type Pokémon, tied with Eldegoss and Toedscruel. In addition, this massive increase in size enables these creatures to actually store energy in and develop a significant amount of fat in their limbs and especially their main body; while this is already reflected in the increase to their defensive stats, this layer of fat actually helps to insulate the creatures from extreme temperatures to the point of granting them the Thick Fat Ability. Mega Venusaur might not display a massive increase in their offensive stats as with most other Mega Evolutions, but they are nonetheless far sturdier beasts than regular Venusaur could ever be, and with protection against the Grass-type’s two biggest weaknesses, there is little capable of easily taking down these monstrous tanks in battle.

Lastly, it is noted that Venusaur is also one of only 32 species of Pokémon capable of undergoing the process of Gigantamaxing, with specific members of this species taking on a unique form when they are Dynamaxed in battle. In this state, the flower on the backs of these creatures grows so large that it completely covers their forms, with the petals of the flower becoming so thick and springy that they can easily repel half-hearted attacks and thus act as a useful shield while these beasts attack with their two massive vines, which themselves are large and strong enough to easily topple a ten-story building. In addition, the flower spews so much pollen out that it almost resembles a volcanic eruption, and inhaling this pollen is a bad idea, as it can cause uncontrollable sneezing and even fainting if too much is breathed in, though it also stimulates plant growth, with it being said that places where the pollen falls tend to grow thick with plants. While this might only be a temporary state for them, the immense power that flows through them while in this state allows Venusaur to utilize a unique G-Max move known as G-Max Vine Lash, which involves the user striking the opposition with a pair of massive vines that hit with explosive flower power and wrap them in smaller, damaging vines that continuously deal damage to all opposing member of the opposition who aren’t Grass-types at the end of every combat ‘turn’, allowing these monsters to use their Dynamax power to the fullest and leave little but gnarled vines in their wake once their transformation ends.

Though they might be incredibly hard to find, Venusaur are dangerous creatures that every Grass-type enthusiast should get a hold of. With the ability to hold their ground relatively well in any physical altercation and the power to blast away everything else in their way, you can be assured that any battle with one of these titans is going to be a difficult one. Fire-type Pokémon might be the only Pokémon capable of defeating Venusaur without too much difficulty, but make sure that you know what you are doing before you change the weather to fit your style; intense sunlight might power-up Fire-type moves, but it will also turn a Venusaur into a Solar Beam-spewing nightmare only the best of trainers will ever be able to overcome!

One of my Venusaur's preferred tactics is ensnaring his opponents with Vine Whip and holding them down before hitting them with Leech Seed or Poison Powder at point blank range. A bit underhanded, I admit, but quite effective.
