Volcarona (the Sun Pokémon) is an exceptionally rare Bug/Fire-type Pokémon found in a variety of environments across the world, including jungles, mountains, volcanoes and even deserts. Unbelievably powerful and dangerous to be around, Volcarona are magnificent creatures that can easily incinerate the competition with their dazzling skills and unique attacks. Make sure to go on a fully-physical assault when facing one of these titanic insects, because if you can't target their biggest weaknesses, you'll probably end up drowning in a sea of fire before the day is through!

Since the exoskeletons of almost all Bug-types are unable to sustain their structure in the presence of high temperatures, Bug-types in general are genetically unfit to possess the combustion organs present in most Fire-types; Larvesta and their evolved form, Volcarona, are the exception to this rule. Not only are the carapaces of both creatures chemically reinforced to resist burning to an extremely high degree (which, consequently, seems to make them vulnerable to Water-type moves), but they both have a way of initiating combustion without needing actual combustion organs. While Larvesta are able to initiate combustion through an organic chemical secreted from their horns, as they burst into existence from a cocoon of raging flames in evolving, Volcarona come into possession of something far more unique and deadly: ember scales. As their name suggests, these chemically-enhanced flakes of organic material instantly combust once exposed to oxygen, producing flowing streams of fire that spread out like wisps of smoke and simultaneously make the space around them suffocating from the oxygen used up in the production of said flames; because Volcarona constantly release vast quantities of ember scales while flapping their wings in combat (a biological addition that enables them to learn moves like Gust, Fire Spin, Whirlwind, Heat Wave, Fire Blast, Rage Powder, Hurricane, and Quiver Dance, which is acquired immediately after evolving), this has the effect of literally drowning the battlefield around them in a sea of fire that has struck great fear into the hearts of people in both modern and ancient times (especially those living in warmer regions), the latter referring to the display as “the rage of the sun”. It is unknown whether they do this to intentionally start fires or to simply keep other Pokémon from getting cold, but this essentially insures that any opponent not insulated by strong armor or a type resistance is incinerated before either side can even make a move, thus making Volcarona exceptionally dangerous to simply be around. Furthermore, Volcarona can generate huge blasts of flowing fire by moving around rapidly and beating their wings exceptionally fast; this unique attack, referred to as the Fiery Dance attack, is quite powerful and has an extremely high chance of raising the Special Attack stat of Volcarona. For this power alone, it is easy to see why Volcarona are feared by all trainers; add in the capacity to learn a surprising variety of powerful attacks like Bug Buzz or Hurricane, and it becomes clear how lethal these bugs can truly be.

Volcarona are believed to have played a very important part in the history of civilizations during times of extremely explosive volcanic activity. In the case of many explosive volcanic eruptions, huge volumes of ash are shot up into the atmosphere upon eruption; in turn, if it remains suspended, this ash can prevent sunlight from reaching the earth, creating a period of cooling capable of generating wet, miserable summers and fiercely cold winters. In the case of extremely violent eruptions, the ash cloud cover can extend over vast distances; as an example, an eruption from the Yellowstone hot spot about two million years ago, produced about 60 cubic miles of ash and generated an ash cloud that covered more than half the United States. Without the benefit of light, most civilizations living under these conditions simply crumbled and fell away, just as their crops did. However, in a few remote areas, these civilizations were saved by the presence of a Volcarona; because their bodies are essentially bottomless factories of fire, Volcarona were enlisted to act as replacements for the missing sunlight. While they did not necessarily help much with crops, the light that Volcarona provided allowed these few lucky civilizations to at least keep morale up and eliminate the fear of the darkness until the ash clouds subsided; as such, Volcarona were essentially worshipped and treated like solar deities, believed to have been born from flaming cocoons for the pure sake of saving people and Pokémon alike from the dreadful cold. Several large temples around the world have been built in honor of these creatures, but the vast majority of them are nothing more than forgotten ruins today. Nonetheless, Volcarona are almost always present inside these crumbling ruins; the only explanation for why would be that they are the direct descendants of the Volcarona the temple was originally built for. For them to remain inside these crumbling structures, however, Volcarona would have to possess not only incredible memories but also great respect for the builders of the temples and an understanding of the significance of the task their ancestors were given. This means that, on relative terms, Volcarona are perhaps the most intelligent, natural thinkers out of all Bug-types and are likely as mentally complicated and advanced as the average human if not more. Similar stories exist today with more modern references, but said instances of 'salvation' generally involve the survival of Pokémon and humans during less disastrous events like terribly cold winters, something the Unova region experiences on a fairly regular basis.

Magnificent in appearance and absolutely lethal on the battlefield, Volcarona are dazzling beasts that can easily fight fire with fire better than almost any other Fire-type Pokémon known. With incredible special powers at their disposal, the highest non-legendary, non-Paradox and non-UB base stat total out of all Bug-type Pokémon, and the ability to scorch nearly every other Pokémon on the battlefield, you can be sure that any battle against one of these monsters is sure to be a heart-stopper. Fire-type specialists look alive, because this is one Bug-type that will not go down easily; Volcarona might not be the greatest in terms of physical offense or defense, but you won't find another creature out there that can more efficiently reduce all but the toughest opponents to ash while still looking absolutely beautiful!

"but this essentially insures that any opponent not insulated by strong armor or a type resistance is incinerated before either side can even make a move, thus making Volcarona exceptionally dangerous to simply be around," I mean, not only do the pokemon have to worry about the flames but as you mentioned earlier in the report (which I noticed was updated to fit the new pokedex entries) opposing pokemon also has to worry about suffocating since the scales rob the air of oxygen.
